Appearing on Canal Street Beat and Written by CSB Staff

The proposed Rouses supermarket on Freret Street secured City Planning Commission approval this week to sell alcohol and operate a food-processing facility as part of the grocery.

The proposed supermarket would include a 10,000 square foot grocery at 4645 Freret Street, and an additional 5,000-square-foot warehouse and office building next door at 4617-4619 Freret St.  The food-processing facility will handle storage, king cake production, and food prep for other Rouses locations in the city. The grocery will also contain 26 off-street parking spaces.

The City Planning Staff report recommended approval and stated that the proposal was consistent with the Master Plan.

Duplantis Design Group and JMR+H Architecture are the designers on the project.
